Thanks to the versatility of our PASSIVE POOL system, we were able to design and build this large swimming pool. Our technical department worked closely with the client and site management to solve the various challenges posed by the conditions of a newly constructed walkable roof in the hotel.

Unique features

One of the most challenging elements in the design and construction of this pool basin was the integration of two existing smoke vents into the basin. 3D Logic Future technicians went to the site to measure and determine the tolerances to ensure a perfect assembly. Added to this was the unique placement of a water window on one side.

In addition, the following unique elements are part of this project:

• Elevated access beach for users.
• Technical room for the water purification system.
• Perimeter guardrail.
• Bench for users inside the pool.
• Stairs for access to the interior and exterior.

One of the most innovative applications of our PASSIVE POOLS system is the rehabilitation of buildings. An example of this is this project for the installation of a swimming pool on the roof of an existing building in one of the main boulevards of Barcelona, Passeig de Gracia. The pool was a four-sided overflow pool with a water surface of 10×3 m and a height of 1.2 m. The pool was semi-underground with a wooden deck.

Overflow as a compensation tank

One of the keys to the design of the pool was the need for the perimeter overflow channel to be able to absorb the hydrostatic pressure of its 10-meter length. For this purpose, we designed a series of perimeter reinforcement elements, in collaboration with the architectural firm, with compensation pipes.

Another distinguishing element of this pool was the design of the stairs. For instance, the access to the swimming area was solved by an innovative design of 4 large steps, which offer safety to the bather. In addition, the standardized modules have been equipped with the corresponding conduits and wall bushings, both for lighting, vertically, and for hydraulic injection, at the bottom.

Our technical department applied the PASSIVE POOL technology in this project of the first EPS pool with a mixed system. Various materials were used to create a large pool with a glass façade.

Guarantee and fast assembly 

Thanks to the design elaborated by our engineers, we built this pool in record time. After the approval of the designs and the preliminary studies of the project, we manufactured the EPS structure of the PASSIVE POOL in two weeks. Subsequently, the prefabricated modules were installed and waterproofed, dry and without residues. For their construction, it was necessary to study the compatibility of materials, in relation to issues such as their deformability, possible structural movements and durability.

These are the elements that made it possible to build one of our most spectacular PASSIVE POOLs:

• Stainless steel plate support on braced beams.
• PASSIVE POOL floor connection with glass-front fixing box, as a guarantee of watertightness.
• Structural glass pillars to support the water surface on three sides.
• Fixing and sealing of pillars in the bench area, in union with the EPS pieces.
• Waterproofing with special elastic technical mortars for this project.

Pioneer project for one of our most loyal clients. We carried out this project during the state of alarm due to COVID, when our technicians were having difficulty traveling. 3D Logic Future remotely designed and fabricated the pool enclosure with a water surface of 10×2.5 meters and a depth of 0.9 meters. Thanks to our 3D technology and the benefits it offers to prevent inaccuracies, the client installed the PASSIVE POOLS pool without difficulty and without the need for one of our technicians to travel to the site.

Perimeter piece as support for grille

The photograph shows a perimeter channel filled with river stones. 3D Logic Future, together with the architectural firm, designed additional support pieces for finishing the wooden deck. These U-shaped pieces provided a perimeter channel to collect splashes while the users’ bathe.

The PASSIVE POOLS pool structure, consisting of full-width stairs and a side bench where users can sit and enjoy the view, was placed in an area that was difficult to access. 

In addition, the client chose to install a crane at one end for people with functional diversity, for which he had the instructions of our design department, both with regard to its installation and the materials and reinforcements required.  In addition, the client chose to install a lift at one of its ends for people with functional diversity, for which the client counted on the instructions of our design department, both with regards to its installation and the necessary materials and reinforcements.

3D Logic Future participated with its know-how in the renovation of the existing concrete basin of this swimming pool.  With the design and application of advanced technological materials, we provided a solution to the renovation and transformed a simple pool into a spa pool.

Integration of accessories in the production plant

For the design and integration of the massage elements, lighting, filter system, sound, etc., as well as for the subsequent construction, we had a very short time frame. One of the special features of the project is the fact that the pool was not supported on the ground, but on a structure. However, thanks to the efficiency and speed of the PASSIVE POOL system, we were able to meet the construction deadlines.

The successful design and construction of this spa pool is a result of the following factors:

• The lightness of the modules produced with the PASSIVE POOL system, compared to the traditional system.
• Speed of assembly and execution, thus minimizing the service interruption time of a facility open to the public.
• Energy savings thanks to the thermal insulation provided by the system’s core.
• Guaranteed bonds thanks to the integration and sealing of the parts in the production plant.
• Versatility in the design that allows the modules to be adapted to the existing shapes of the pool basin.

With this project, the client benefited from the rapid design, construction and installation of our PASSIVE POOLS system. Therefore, in record time, the hotel was able to have a swimming pool with complex shapes that added value to its facilities. 

Thanks to 3D Logic Future’s PASSIVE POOLS system, we designed the project using the architectural drawings during the licensing process.

We designed with millimetric precision the modular parts of a circular swimming pool that was to be mounted on the roof of the 12-story hotel. The design thus foresaw the appropriate size of the modules, both so that they could be lifted up to the top floor of the hotel and so that they could be easily assembled afterwards.

Easy installation 

The installation begins with 2×1 m panels to form the floor. They are pre-drilled with the necessary holes for the passage of the pipes and, thanks to our machining robot, the perimeter contour for the placement of circular walls have been previously drilled in them. One of the many advantages of our system is the fact that we do not have to make any layout for the placement of curved walls. Once the bottom is leveled, we begin the installation of walls, interior benches, hydromassage and beds with air blowers. These elements, as well as the walls supplied with wall bushings, are glued to the prepared floor structure.

Finally, because of the size of the project, our design department decided to leave the placement of the top pieces at the water overflow level for the last step. To ensure they worked properly, we leveled these final modules using a laser system, which allowed us to complete the installation with millimetric precision, so that the water overflow was perfect around the entire perimeter.

Once the entire structure is assembled, we proceed to:

• The placement of pipes in the holes marked at the factory.
• Testing the pressure of the installed pipes.
• The filling and sealing of the pool with waterproof technical mortars.
• Sealing the pipe outlets in the pool
• The application of the waterproofing and the watertightness tests.

This is a pool overflowing on all four sides, a very fashionable design in hotel and residential buildings. The effect it produces is that of a mirror of water that barely allows us to distinguish the structure of the pool basin.

Perimeter channel concealed under decking

One of the important elements of this type of pool is the hidden channel under the wooden decking. On building roofs, space is often limited, so pools installed on them require more efficient solutions for the usual compensation tanks. 3D Logic Future offers such customized solutions.

In this project, a series of metal supports allowed the deck to rise and thus provide a gap between the terrace deck and the pool basin for its communication with the compensation tank.

In addition, this pool has a perimeter bench that users can enjoy with maximum comfort, thanks to the ergonomics study we carried out for the design of this type of PASSIVE POOLS element.
